Serial Code IX (9)
Chapter 40 To be Insomniac Part 7
Serial Code IX (9) book online reading
Serial Code 9 has a special place in my heart because of several meaning behind the title. The first meaning lies behind the word 'serial.' Growing up; I was exposed to slasher films such as Scream, Friday the Thirteenth, & Nightmare on Elm. Serial is the first word in the duo well known during that "Slasher" era; Serial Killer. The second meaning lies behind the word 'code.' Reading the stories is an entire code for something far more significant than just an anthology of gore and horror. Of course, I won't spoil the hidden secret, but I hope it does get appreciated for those capable of cracking the code. Want to try to crack the code behind the 9 Horror stories I have lined up for you? Well, you’ve come to the right place. Let’s see if you can crack the code.
***************
Four is an unlucky number in Japan because it sounds like shi (死 – death). Therefore, there are two readings for the number four, shi and yon. Whenever possible, people try to avoid using the death related one. The same is true of the ku (九 – nine), which sounds like ku (苦 – suffering, agony, bitter, or torture). With the differentiating sounds, styles, and symbols, I chose the number nine and have written nine stories that connect and or intertwine with each other in minor forms. Serial Code 9 has a special place in my heart because of several meaning behind the title.

Finally, the number 9 or slightly the sound of it in Japanese, as previously explained, sounds like suffering, agony, bitterness, or torture, which goes hand in hand with the concept of the entirety of the book. The second part of the meaning behind the 9 is the Japanese utilized. Those that know me and follow me on social media or through articles or identify me will know I will be spending time overseas. I will be living in Japan and developing my literature alongside advancing my art to a foreign country. With all that revealed, I hope that you all enjoy the anthology.

Another Murder?
Chapter 25 Galius (3)
Another Murder?
Blenar. A thought to be peaceful little mediveal town holding 200 people. But what would you say if i told you tha murder has dawned upon the horizon?
One night after the other, one new murder was to be heard in the morning with no sign of stopping or resting. Who would have such capabilities to go in a house, murder a soul and retreat undetected?!
Chief Ambers has brought a "qualified detective" to solve this case. But that detective will have to go to sleep... eventually.
***************
Edgar the homeless, at least that's what everyone in this little town called him ever since he made a sudden entrance here. He is a 68 year old man, whose fate didn't work to his favour in the long term.
Generally, luck wasn't by his side but his considerably worst event is very recent.
He escaped Iron city due to it's rather hard to catch up financial preferences, one old man with no skill can't make it in the big city alone.
Edgar could barely save up any coins and would likely be in debt by now if he didn't share a house with his son who covered more than half of the house expenses, plus the rent.
His son never said anything about it, welcoming his father with open arms even.
But when Edgar noticed his 32 year old son getting gray hair out of stress, splitting paths started sounding like the best solution. His son has a wife and kids too, they as a family demand care.
Feeling fairly capable to live low on a small town, after strong will and a heavy argument with his son who insisted for Edgar to stay, the old left that house in Iron city and started his journey to reach the village of Blenar.
Considering the bronze coins that he saved up over the years, Edgar feels confident with the amount, knowing that he has enough for at least a few years.
Edgar is 68 years old, the likeness of him living after 71 is rather slim, so thousands of coins aren't really necessary for a living.
He has enough to live on low standards in this little town, while maybe doing a side task just to live by.
And maybe old Edgar would have made a fair living that way, but in the middle of his Journey to this little village, he got mugged.
Jumped by a couple of Bandits, over powered, beaten beyond prepare and finally stripped of his valuable belongings.
However the old man didn't care about the bronze coins as much as he cared about one little silver necklace.
He got that necklace from his little 5 year old niece, who cried beyond calming down when her Grandfather chose to part ways.
At the end, removing the necklace from her neck, gently handed it to Edgar and whispered. "If you run out of food, you can sell this Grandpa."
She didn't know the Value of the Necklace, it wasn't exactly expensive. Even if it was, he would have no intention of selling it, would rather starve actually. His little Niece gave it to him after all.
A rather terrible fate, it broke his heart. The old man lost that necklace, the only thing he could remember his niece by.
Now he'

Deadly Bonds
McKenna has one goal in mind—to grab the next flight to Washington and disappear from the police and the drug treatment center her parents locked her in to torment her. And there is only one person who could help her: her childhood friend and first love—Jude.
Just as she breaks into the private university grounds where he studies, a horrific cult kidnaps her and forces her into servitude to their supervisor.
Although her new master, Etienne, claims he would help her escape, McKenna is dead set on finding a way on her own. And when she does, everything she’s ever thought she knew falls apart. Jude is the leader of the Order of the Red Gate. He promises to protect her identity and let her stay on campus against a small price—she has to pledge her allegiance to the cult.
As grim truths evoke gut-wrenching questions, McKenna is pulled into an ocean of evil and death where one small mistake could cost her either her sanity or her life.

I gritted my teeth and lifted myself on the high wall. Sharp wind brushed through my body, but the view in front of me made me forget all about the cold. The stupid barbed wire was laughing at me, taunting me for trying to escape a well-guarded facility. But it didn’t know I was a well-trained escapee. This was one of my specialties that had gotten me out of my house for years. Ha, suck it, Mom and Dad! Not even rehab was going to imprison me!
A smirk twisted my lips up, and I glanced at the nearby road where a dark Chevrolet stood. It turned on its brights for a short second, and right at the same moment, the alarm behind me went off.
“Shit!” I hissed, realizing my plan to cut through the barbed wire was going into the trash bin, and stood on my feet. My hand grabbed the scissors from my pants pocket and tossed them at the bush behind me. I’d stolen them for nothing. Taking a huge step over the shiny metal, my white trousers got stuck on few of the wires and tore a bit. I ignored the sharp spikes that scratched my legs and stepped on the other side of the wall. The available space was so small that a whole foot couldn’t fit, even side-wise. I was just a second away from falling, but I wasn’t going to give up on my freedom.
When a shout behind me knocked me out of my thoughts, I jerked in fear, and my foot slid off the tiny space, causing me to stagger forward. The next thing I knew was the hard ground and sharp pain that made me grunt. I grabbed my elbow and clenched my jaw. My eyes shot imaginary bombs at the barbed wire that seemed miles away from me now, but when the horn of the Chevrolet squeaked at me, I leaped up.
How many times had you used it to sound like that, Danna?
I dashed to it and, with every step that I took, cursed at the burning ache all over my body. At least, I hadn’t broken anything. Hopefully.
“Come on, come on, come on!” Danna urged panicky as I opened the door and got into the car.
“I’m here, don’t go all crazy on me!” I shoved the door closed, and her black

Leo searched her room once again. The Chief told him to give it up, after all, even the police technicians couldn't find anything relevant here, and that he is wasting his time, which could be devoted to solving another case. However, Leo did not want to listen to anyone. Maybe it didn't make any difference to them whether she was alive or dead, but he couldn't accept that she had disappeared like that without a word. His partner would surely tell him if she'd just decided to drop it all and rest somewhere far away. After all, they were friends, the best friends. They had no secrets, he told her everything, she told him as well, so why would she leave somewhere without saying goodbye? He did not believe the version of events that the Chief and the rest of his colleagues were trying hard to push. Each of them had already believed it, because there were no signs of kidnapping or murder, and the fact that she had not taken anything with her meant nothing to them, and they explained it in different ways. Besides, Leo knew very well that they didn't care about her, that's why it was so easy for them to believe she just run away. But he did care, because his partner was the only person he could fully trust.
Leo searched the bed, the wardrobe, every drawer of the desk one more time, flipped through all the books, looked under the bed, the rug, even each of the four Kalanchoe flower pots that she loved so much... There had to be a trace here, something that will show him where she disappeared and why it happened. He was losing his mind more and more with each passing second. After all, she could not leave without clothes, books, computer or telephone. Neither did any money disappear from her account, and checking the computer and telephone clearly indicated that she had not ordered any tickets. Yes, she might have had cash with her and bought the ticket in person, but she would have had to enter her details anyway, and checking the airlines didn't get any results. The police chief also found an explanation for this - she just did not leave the country and hid somewhere in the UK, hitchhiking, also left her computer and phone just so that no one would track her. Maybe that was a fairly logical explanation, but Leo couldn't believe she would leave him without any goodbye or explanation at all. No, that was definitely not what happened. He had a clear feeling the truth was quite different, and Leo had always trusted his instincts, which was why he could solve many complicated cases and was such a good detective after all.
One thing he had to admit - the last few months have been really strange, like some kind of crazy ride. Sometimes Leo regretted that

THE MURDERER
KAYLEEN
I almost never wanted to open my eyes after being stocked on a dreamless sleep. Every time it happens, something unpleasant surprises my eyes. The last time I did, I just saw a stranger dead in front of me. Tears started crawling down my cheeks with my eyes still tightly closed.
“Kayleen? Are you okay?” I immediately opened my eyes and hugged my mom when I heard her voice. She is sitting at the side of my bed and is waking me up like always. It makes me feel like it’s just a normal day.
“Where were you last night?” she asked while caressing my hair. Wiping my tears away, we parted from the hug. I tried to remember everything but I’m just blank. The last thing that I knew I did is that I had a fight with my best friend. After that, I don’t know anymore.
“I don’t know. I’m sorry mom,” I said. She smiled bitterly. “I need to go to Shaira,” I added walking straight to the door. She failed to stop me as I stormed off the house.
The place where we first meet each other is where I am heading right now. I was right, she is there sitting on a bench under the shade of the tree.
“Shaira,” I whispered and walked slower until I’m near.
“What are you doing here?” she coldly asked not even throwing me a single glance. I sat at the other end of the bench. This is the exact position that day we met. She is the only girl who talked to me and became my friend.
She is Shaira, the complete opposite of me. She is taller than me, having shiny long copper blond hair, porcelain skin and a pair of blue eyes. She looks like an angel while I look like the opposite. I look horribly and naturally mean when I’m relaxing my face. I have black long hair with dark brown eyes and a bit tanned skin.
This playground is my favorite spot to stare at the other kids playing. The moment I met her, she became my only playmate but my parents don't look happy about it. They always wanted to take me to the doctor but I hesitated. It’s just confusing.
“Are you still mad at me?” I asked her to break the awkward silence.
“Don’t worry, we fought about something useless. He doesn’t like me too,” she said and took her hoodie off her head to finally look at me. I almost cried when she did.
“I’m sorry,” I apologized but then her face doesn’t look like her at all. When I blinked, a memory flashed against my eyes. That night when we had a fight at Carlo's birthday party. The music is very loud but I can hear her voice clearly shouting in front of me.
“We can’t like the same person!” she furiously shouted at my face.
“What? You like him too?” I asked with brows furrowing. She pushed me.
“Carlo is mine!” she screamed and lost her angelic face looking like a demon attempting to

Driven
Chapter 8
Driven book online reading
Driven by her hunger for power, blinded by rage and lost to an irrevocable thirst for revenge, Agnes fights her way to the top.
With the belief that she's the only one who can cleanse Guru of the atrocities that plague it, she chooses to wear the crown - by any means necessary.
Will her efforts be crowned or will her zeal drive her down an unexpected tragic path?
***************
It's a beautiful day, Agnes thinks to herself.
Warm, lambent sunlight streams in through the window as the misty air breezes in and out of her room — a sign of the rainy days to come soon.
The birds chirp to the sun's glory, as the cock crows. The King is dead and Agnes couldn't be any happier.
King Fredrick gave up the ghost two nights ago, but as tradition would have it the news was not related to the public until two days later. This was to ascertain his death since there was a time a King had been buried alive. They proclaimed the man's breathing had ceased and his chest no longer rose and fell, so had assumed he was dead — unaware of his weak pulse. They only found out their King was alive when he was buried and evil started to plague their land.
Sadly, the man turned out dead when he was dug up. To please their ancestors and atone for their sins, the men who announced his death and those who dug his grave were burnt alive and their ashes spread across Osimiri Ejima (the twins' river); and a new order was given by the new Kingmaker (because the former was also burnt alive), that anyone who dies after taking his or her last breath mustn't be buried until two days later.
Two days were nothing compared to 1825 days, yet Agnes was impatient as she waited for the town crier to officially announce the King's death.
As early as the cock crowed this morning, the town crier went around the village, striking his gong and announcing the supposed sad news.
King Fredrick was nothing but a weak and incompetent man, whose meekness was the reason the neighbouring village arose thirty days ago to attack their farmers on their farmlands. Instead of proclaiming war and driving a sword through their women and children, he called the King of ụmụnna (brothers kingdom) and sat to negotiate with him.
The memory brings up a sour taste from the base of Agnes' throat and she makes a sucking sound as the maid readies her spitting bowl. Making a clean shot, her saliva settles in the middle of the bowl.
Agnes is relaxed in her wooden chair as a maid tends to her fingernails, another working a comb through her hair and the third one battling with her toenails.
Her gaze leaves the curtain of her doorway and rests on the leopard hide hanging on the wall. It was a gift from her late father when she turned seventeen.
He killed the leopard when he was eighteen and promised to give it to his son (when has one) on his seventeenth birthday to inspire him to be a brave man. But since late King Alexander couldn't have a son, and only had a daughter (which is he
